Basic Mosaic Class: This class is a great introduction to the art of mosaic. You will receive instruction on the basic techniques, terminology, use of cutting tools, and the bases and glues used in mosaics. The instructor will also show you how design ideas (direct method only) you create can give form to your mosaic projects.  The class fee includes all materials needed to make a 10”x10” indoor fine art mirror with final grouting instructions provided. Due to the limited class time, final grouting must be complete after the class. If you do not complete your mosaic project or would like additional help with the final grouting, you can come to an Open Studio Workshop  for help with this final grouting step.  Mosaic tools are available for use during each session but if you want to continue working at home, double-wheeled nippers can be purchased from the instructor.  (Specialty glass and gems will be available for a small additional fee, or you can bring in your own treasures to include in your mosaic..)

The SVAC (Sammamish Valley Arts Center) is offering  Basic Mosaic Classes and Open Mosaic Studio Workshops on Fridays from 10:30am to 2:30pm.  (Sessions are limited to 6 people, ages 16+) .  For SVAC membership information and directions, go to: www.sammamishvalleyartscenter.org

* Workshop participants must have attended a Basic Mosaic Class or have experience or training in mosaics approved by Patty Franklin.  There is no formal instruction provided during the workshops.

 

 

Open Studio Workshop for Mosaic: This workshop is a unique opportunity for you to work beside others that have a passion for mosaics.  Artists with all levels of experience are invited to attend and work at their own pace through the various stages of completion.  There will be a facilitator available to offer guidance and make available all of the tools and materials.  You only need to bring your base/substrate and your imagination. Participants must have attended a Basic Mosaic Class or   experience/previous training in mosaics approved by Patty Franklin. No formal instruction is provided during the workshops.
